Opened in 2016, Oman’s National Museum showcases the history and culture of the sultanate, and its centuries-old role as a trading hub. The first part of this illustrated commemoration explores the building, a blend of Islamic and Modernist architecture by Jasper Jacobs Associates in the historic heart of Muscat; the second details its collections, devoted to prehistoric artefacts, maritime history, arts and crafts, calligraphy, arms and armour, and coins and banknotes.
The National Museum, Sultanate of Oman, is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the treasures of Oman's cultural heritage.
