Lonely and isolated since the disappearance of his sister Bethan five years ago, Gwyn’s life takes a wonderfully magical turn on his ninth birthday when his grandmother gives him five intriguing gifts, one of which, a brooch, transforms into Arianwen, the snow spider. Age 8+
A spine-tingling magical fantasy and modern classic from the author of Charlie Bone, Jenny Nimmo.
'Time to find out if you are a magician, Gwyn ...'
Gwyn's grandmother leaves him five gifts: a brooch, a piece of dried seaweed, a tin whistle, a scarf, and a broken toy horse. She tells him they will help make him a magician - but can Gwyn use them to bring his missing sister, Bethan, home?
The Snow Spider won the 1986 Smarties Grand Prix and it was awarded the Tir na n-Og Award in 1987.
Combining all of Jenny Nimmo's trademark elements - unusual but compelling characters, stunning magic and a rich, vibrant story - The Snow Spider is perfect for readers aged 8 and up and fans of Harry Potter, Moondial and Tom's Midnight Garden.
This edition features special bonus content, including an interview with Jenny Nimmo, a Welsh language glossary and the chance to find out about the Welsh legends that inspired the story.
'A heart-warming story full of wonder and magic' - Julia Eccleshare
