The Exile Waiting
Postscript summary
A starship arrives at the underground city of Center with offworlder Jan Hikaru and two pseudosibs – the products of an experiment that has left them with a distorted sense of morality and a psychic link. Their encounter with 13-year-old Mischa and her brother draws the teenager into the caverns where those who have been exiled aid her plan to escape the tyranny of the Center. McIntyre’s novel is accompanied in this volume by her short story ‘Cages’, focusing on the origins of the pseudosibs.
