Here is Postscript at the Lustleigh Show on August Bank Holiday 2024, sponsoring the Dog Show as we have done for several years. It was a beautiful day and a very successful Dog Show this year. The winners of all 16 classes got their choice of dog book from Postscript and one of our smart new blue tote bags if they were lucky.
Lustleigh is not a very large or populous village, but its annual show is quite a major event hereabouts: this Monday, the show attendees probably outnumbered the villagers. We had just finished setting out our catalogues, bookmarks etc when the show opened, but already people were queueing for tickets and cars were queueing for the privilege of bumping across a field to park.
There were giant, prize-winning onions; more jam than you could spread on bread; local alcoholic beverages for sale; guessing the weight of sheep, axe throwing, falconry and terrier racing, tug-of-war, and the chrome of vintage cars gleaming in the sunshine. All this and a Dog Show. You should come next year.
