Last weekend we had the privilege of attending the Hay Festival.
Over the three days we had the pleasure of meeting hundreds of readers, talking about books, sharing recommendations and introducing many visitors to Postscript Books. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our pop-up stand, browsed our catalogues and took the time to chat with the team.
One of the highlights of the weekend was our ‘Tell Me What You’re Reading’ board. More than 400 festival-goers added their current reads and recommendations, creating a snapshot of what readers are enjoying today. From literary classics to contemporary fiction and with Greek mythology, children’s favourites and travel writing, the breadth of titles shared was a reminder of the rich and varied reading community that makes the Hay Festival such a special event.

I’m currently reading Bright I Burn by Molly Aitken. I’m always drawn to novels with strong female voices, particularly those that explore the pressures placed on women and the ways they navigate, challenge and overcome them.
Rich in atmosphere and historical detail, it’s a compelling read for anyone interested in overlooked women from history and stories that give voice to those who have been forgotten.

I’m currently reading Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams, having picked up a copy when it arrived in the Postscript office and been unable to put it down since. Through personal anecdotes and industry insights Wynn-Williams compares the potential future she envisioned for Facebook back in 2009, centring around community and connection, with the ubiquitous, unmanageable force it quickly became. Her bravery in telling this story while standing up against constant pressure from Meta, including her silence on stage at Hay Festival, is truly inspirational.
