Following three fruitful years at the University of Warwick studying for a degree in English and American Literature, during which time I mostly read and re-read White Noise by Don DeLillo, I put in a stint as a bookseller on the King’s Road – the perfect vantage point from which to celebrity-spot as well as flog the occasional book. Bookselling being a mandatory springboard into publishing, I moved on to marketing roles at Pavilion, Phaidon Press and Headline, where I worked with an eclectic range of authors from Terry Jones, James Patterson and Wendy Holden to Bruce Bernard, Martin Parr and Maggie O’Farrell. For the last decade or so, I have been a freelance writer with a client list comprising publishers, charities and, of course, Postscript.
