The first part of my ‘career’ was as a print journalist, initially as a sub-editor, then a rock and jazz writer and various flavours of editor. I worked on everything from Jackie and Romeo, Sounds and Black Music magazines to the Evening News and Marketing Week.
I then formed the design and editorial consultancy Form & Content (now more Infirm & Incontinent), working for clients ranging from St Paul’s Cathedral, ad agencies including J Walter Thompson and the WPP Group, the University of East Anglia, Worcester College, Oxford and the Royal College of General Practitioners to Tesco (not shelf-stacking), Women in Film and Television (their only male member) and Postscript (including the London and Promotional Bookfairs). I started as designer on issue 6 of the Postscript catalogue and am still keeping on keeping on 320 issues later…
