Devon Dead and Buried

New Paperback Illustrated

Postscript summary

Devon contains more than 700 Anglican and Roman Catholic churches, nonconformist chapels and municipal cemeteries. Aimed at genealogists and local historians, this alphabetical guide provides brief biographies of many of the people – famous and obscure – buried there from the Middle Ages to the present. They range from several Bishops of Exeter interred in the Cathedral to the merchants, missionaries, farmers and sailors scattered across the county’s churchyards.
