The Apache Wars
The Hunt for Geronimo, the Apache Kid, and the Captive Boy Who Started the Longest War in American History
In 1861, twelve-year-old Felix Telles was kidnapped by an Apache raiding party from his family’s ranch in Arizona Territory, triggering some of the worst fighting in the Apache Wars. Raised as an Apache, Telles eventually became a US Army Apache Scout known as Mickey Free (‘half-Irish, half-Mexican, but all son-of-a-bitch’). Free’s story provides the theme for this history, which is peopled with formidable contemporaries including Kit Carson, George Crook, Geronimo and the Apache Kid. Off-mint, American-cut pages and felt-tip mark on lower trimmed edge.
