The Oregon Trail
An Illustrated Edition of Francis Parkman's Western Adventure
Francis Parkman's classic account of the American frontier at the time of the early migrations was written in the late 1840s and describes the first section of the Oregon Trail through Missouri, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado and Kansas, including a period he spent living with the Oglala Sioux Indians. This illustrated edition includes archive photographs, paintings and illustrations of the trail, as well as additional first-hand accounts from contemporary emigrants who completed the route across the Rockies to the Pacific Northwest.
