Birmingham's Horse Transport

New Paperback Illustrated

Postscript summary

Covering Birmingham’s centre as well as its suburbs, this volume offers a visual record of an era in which the city’s population was supported by horses – whether drawing buses or delivering goods such as coal, bread or milk. Historic photographs and postcards, with extended captions, capture everyday life before focusing on the use of horses in pageants.
