Kinder gathered information about the British campaigns, became familiar with the leading figures of the revolutionary era and provided a first-hand account of social conditions and the beginnings of revolution in Montevideo and Buenos Aires during his stay in those cities. His 'Diary' is edited, with an introduction by Professor Newitt.
