Trials for Treason and Sedition, 1792-1794
Sorry, this item is now out of stock.
These trials for sedition and treason - including those of Thomas Paine, Thomas Hardy, John Horne Tooke and John Thelwall - offer a remarkable record of the late 18th century struggle for freedom of speech and parliamentary reform fought in the courts and in the press. Court reporting was in its infancy, and the texts reproduced (in facsimile) here are not unmediated transcripts, but accounts published in the immediate aftermath of the trials. No jackets.
