The First General Entry Book of the City of Salisbury 1387-1452
Available in Stock
The first extant minute book or general 'Entry Book' of the city of New Salisbury relates to the years 1387 to 1452 and is one of the earliest such records for an English town. It contains valuable and unique information about the administration and the social and economic life of the city. The manuscript, which was damaged in a fire in 1780, has been painstakingly recovered for this edition and is presented in a slightly abbreviated translation of the predominantly Latin text, with an introduction and indexes.
