When tomboy Daisy Kildare leaves rural Ireland to take on the role of companion to an orphan in Liverpool, her happy-go-lucky life seems to be at an end. One small crumb of comfort is her burgeoning friendship with chauffeur's son Jake – until the war intervenes.
