Sites of Impact
Available in Stock
After a meteorite strike, natural processes of weathering, erosion and the regrowth of vegetation on Earth's surface obscure the evidence of the cataclysmic impact. In a series of aerial expeditions, photographer Stan Gaz sought out meteorite impact sites to make these extraordinary images of craters, among them the relatively recent Meteor, or Barringer Crater in Arizona. The photographs are reproduced here, along with Gaz's field notes and essays by Christian Koeberl and Robert Silberman.
