Maggi Hambling (b.1945) has established a reputation as one of Britain's most significant and controversial artists. This superb book focuses on two recent bodies of her work, and bears witness to a pivotal moment in her career. Her 2013 installation War Requiem comprised 50 paintings of war victims and battlefields, while Aftermath (2015) was a series of powerful sculptures, made first in wood and then cast in bronze. Analysis by the author is combined with comments from the artist herself.
