This history of homosexuality in America in the 20th century shows how, as well as being criminalized, gay people were discriminated against in the law and in their treatment as the victims of crime. It also explores the momentum gathered by the gay rights movement in 1969 following protests against the brutality of the police raid at Stonewall Inn.
