Available in Stock
Monumental brasses and incised slabs have been the subject of scholarly interest since the 18th century, but attention has focused mainly on brasses. This study concentrates on effigial incised slabs, discussing their origins and development in medieval England. In a detailed study of both surviving brasses and slabs and old rubbings and antiquarian drawings, the authors look particularly at the products of the London-based marblers in the period before the Black Death.
