Bournemouth: The Biography
Sorry, this item is now out of stock.
Deserted and remote heathland until the beginning of the 19th century, Bournemouth's first inhabitant was a retired army officer, Lewis Tregonwell. Having built his own house there, he constructed a number of villas to let out to people seeking the health-giving benefits of sea bathing. This book tells the story of the town's rapid growth from these humble beginnings into a fashionable resort, and ultimately into a substantial modern town.
