Benjamin Brecknell Turner (1815–1894) was among the first British amateur photographers and produced some of the finest early images of rural England. Between 1852 and 1854 he compiled an album of 60 photographs entitled Photographic Views from Nature. The present volume accompanied an exhibition of these superb pictures at the V&A; it contains reproductions of the photographs, Barnes's illustrated study of Views from Nature and a biography of Turner by Mark Haworth-Booth.
