All in the Family

Based on her Daily Express column in the early 1950s, this book by Elizabeth Pakenham (1906-2002), later countess of Longford, offers her advice on parenting as 'a mixed harvest gathered over a period of 21 years'. Although out-of-date in some respects - she was writing in a world without AIDS or PCs - her advice on topics such as the importance of reading, fantasies, punishments and jealousy shows a real understanding of children's needs. Foreword by her daughter, Rachel Billington.
