A Painter's Progress
Available in Stock
David Dawson was Freud's assistant for many years. This stunning collection of his photographs, taken over decades, creates an intimate portrait of the artist and the man. Freud was famously private, but we see him here with his close circle of friends and models, at work in his studio, and looking at paintings in private and public collections. The images of Freud's home, hung with so many paintings by his friend Frank Auerbach, are the only record of his house with his own collection intact.
