A Calendar of the Catularies of John Pyel and Adam Faunceys
Sorry, this item is now out of stock.
The manuscripts calendared here are lay cartularies compiled for two wealthy London merchants, Adam Fraunceys (d.1375) and John Pyel (d.1382). Frauncey's cartulary is an abstract of his charters relating to his manors in Essex and Middlesex; Pyel's deals mostly with his lands in Northamptonshire: both supply details of how manors were acquired. The introduction provides biographies of both men as well as a discussion of the structure and use of the cartularies.
