Richard Maunsell, Chief Mechanical Engineer of the South Eastern and Chatham Railway and later Southern Railway from 1913-1937, gave his name to the long-lived Mogul family of locomotives. All Maunsell Moguls derived from the original basic design, and variants operated all types of traffic in eight different railway companies into the 1960s. This history of the class is aimed at the railway modeller and provides detailed information and photographs for each period of its history.
