A campaign to replace London's ageing trams with the quieter and more comfortable trolleybuses began in 1931 and continued until the Second World War. Although reaching their peak around 1950, the diesel bus had, by then, become the favoured transport solution and the electric vehicles were quickly phased out. This large-format photographic album displays trolleybuses at work on the streets of London, at bus depots, in construction and testing, and in contemporary promotional literature.
