Cambridgeshire was identified by the RAF in the 1930s as an appropriate location from which bombing missions into Europe could be mounted. When war came, six bomber stations swelled to 12 and the county also became home to the first Pathfinder squadrons. This concise history describes the air war from the perspective of these Cambridgeshire airfields and pays tribute to the deeds of the airmen of Bomber Command who flew from them.
