Between 1945 and 1947, Nikolaus Pevsner (1902-1983) gave more radio talks than any art historian before or since: this volume brings together 113 surviving texts of his BBC radio broadcasts on art and architecture, including programmes in German for the World Service and the seven 1955 Reith lectures. As well as illuminating Pevsner's thinking, the book, with Games's scholarly commentary, illustrates contemporary approaches to the arts and the BBC's attempts to provide intellectual programming for a mass audience.
