The Scottish artist and illustrator Archibald Thorburn (1860- 1935) is renowned for his paintings of birds and mammals, recorded with accuracy and set within harmonious natural landscapes. As an illustrator of books, including his own, Thorburn produced a large number of prints; 203 are listed in this catalogue and over 150 are reproduced in their original sepia tone or the artist's characteristically low and mellow colours, along with Waters's text describing Thorburn's career and output. Foreword by David Shepherd.
