John Lewis (1912-1996) was an innovative and influential typographer and designer, whose many achievements included the ground-breaking Studio Vista series of art paperbacks. In this absorbing memoir he reflects on a long and rewarding life devoted to his craft, his wife Grizelda, sailing, and their cats. With self-deprecating humour, Lewis recalls his Welsh childhood, his wartime service as a camoufleur, his work with Benjamin Britten designing programmes and sets for the Aldeburgh festival - and an encounter with Picasso in Provence.
